Interpreting source code…

This is another thing that frustrates me…I’ve been looking at the Source Code for web pages that I really like, but I can’t understand what it all means! There seems to be a lot more to code than what I understand so far…hmmm…will I ever understand this?

Coding…

I’m actually coding in HTML…but it’s kind of frustrating because I want the ‘final results’ NOW…this is a slow process…all I have is a white page with black letters…I’ll get there, slowly but surely!

Dreamweaver tutorials…

I am being baffled with the tutorials for Dreamweaver…I thought it would be easy…NOT! I’m going through them kind of quickly, but I haven’t attempted to do my own yet. Still so much to learn!

I lost a post…

I had been working on a post on February 18, but somehow, it got lost…when I opened Firefox again, it was there, I hit ‘publish’ and nothing happened…

I was just explaining about what I had decided my web page would be on…’Lele’s Bows’…I explained that my step-daughter’s name is Loralee, but children cannot say her name; they end up saying Lele, so that’s how she got the name for her bow things…so far, she has a ‘fan page’ on Facebook. I told her I’d try to do a web page for her…we’re still needing more examples of bows to show on the web site…

Colors, Textures, and Fonts…oh my!

Bit by bit, we’re getting the pieces of the puzzle of web design fed to us. Tons of choices when it comes to color, texture, and fonts…but fonts have more rules.
I’m not real clear on what those rules are yet, just beginning to find them out. I’d best use fonts that are ‘universal’ so I don’t run into trouble…kiss

The textures…oh so many…not so sure about the ‘grunge’ thing, don’t know if they’ll be appropriate with the page I have in mind…and oh yeah, I’m wavering on that too. I was planning on doing a web site of my step-daughter’s bow making deal she’s doing while she takes care of her two little girls (one is 4 years old, the other 1 year old), in her ‘spare’ time…what spare time? But this is beginning to be problematic…she doesn’t have many different styles of bows made yet…

I really need to come up with a better idea for a site, and I need to do it quickly! The world of color is so fascinating, temperatures, values, saturation, Color Theory 101, RGB, CMYK, monochromatic, analogous, complementary, split complementary, triadic, tetradic/double complementary, discordants…wow…I never knew so much went into color choices. I never studied art, but I do know what I like when I see it.

So many web sites with so much information…last weeks on texture, I had fun looking at all the different background possibilities. I also like this site: http://www.grsites.com/
There are a lot of backgrounds and you can make buttons, banners, etc. I’m still not sure what Dreamweaver can do; going to work more with it tomorrow. Had a nightmare trying to get it installed. First I had a bad disk; it was scratched, but there was a guy at the USF Computer store that was amazing…he got me a replacement copy overnighted. I installed it last week, but haven’t looked at it much yet…I need to watch some of the tutorials…the book’s explanation may help, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Onward we move…week 7 it is!

Amazing Technology!

There is so much to learn about technology and the pace that it changes is dizzying. I think I begin to understand something about technology, and then suddenly it’s ‘old news’. Such a frenetic pace technology has…amazing stuff! So much of the information in Week 3′s web sites were dizzying to me. ICANN listed the most ‘consumer complaints’ were related to transfer problems and Domain Name disputes.
ICANN is a rich site with a lot of information…I could poke around in it for hours. Much of it I don’t understand; I find I have to look up terminology because I don’t truly understand ‘techese’…lol
